Obituary of Mary Brown

Brown, Mary Eleanor – 84 of Cheverie NS, passed away on February 5, 2024, in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor NS. Born on August 2, 1939, in Cheverie, Mary was the daughter of the late James and Mildred (Ross) Weatherbee. Mary began working at the Avon View Nursing Home that overlooked the beautiful shore in Summerville Hants County. After a few years of nursing, Mary followed her heart to be a stay-at-home mother where she could be close to her children. Mary loved spending time outdoors, exploring the shores of the Minas Basin or casting a line, in hopes of hooking a striped bass. She was always up for a game of bingo or a family get-together with music. Mary will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Mary is survived by daughters Darlene (Leroy) Alders, Maxine (Greg) Brison, Janet (Jimmie) Brown, Della Brown; son Perry; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special friend Blue “the huskie dog.” Besides her parents, Mary is predeceased by husband of 64 years Merton Brown (2022); twin sister Marie; sisters Mae Lake, Evelyn Dorman, Margaret Dalrymple; brothers Sonny, Buzz, Raymond and Jimmy. Respecting Mary’s wishes, there will be no service or visitation, a private family burial will be held at a later date in the Bramber Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Palliative Care unit staff at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.
