Wilbur settled into semi-retirement during winter in Arizona, enjoying the hot dry climate golfing and meeting new friends. Out-going by nature, he was quick witted with a playful sense of humor, strong work ethic, a commitment to fair play and a deep love of country music. He was one of the founding members of the band “Ebb Tide” that became well known on the Shore and surrounding area for their dances, fundraisers and entertaining in Seniors’ facilities. A jam session always occurred whenever family or friends dropped by. In his early years he was heavily involved with playing hockey and baseball for local teams. He played for and later coached the Hantsport Shamrocks when they won the Eastern Senior A Men’s Baseball Championship in 1961. Family was especially important to Wilbur. Gatherings, special occasions, and reunions were always filled with music, laughter, and good food. He taught important life skills such as his common-sense attitude, wisdom, honesty, compassion for and love of animals and farming.
