Obituary of Robert Ettinger

Ettinger, Robert "Bobby, Bob" Lorne, age 56, of Truro, NS, formerly of Kennetcook, passed away on February 24, 2014 at the Colchester Hospital, Truro, NS. Born in Payzant Memorial Hospital in Windsor, NS on August 2, 1957, Bob was the son of the late Eric and Edna (Bonn) Ettinger and grew up in Kennetcook, NS where he attended school. During his life Bob worked at New Boundaries in Windsor, NS where he lived for several years at Kings Meadow. Bob also was employed at the Home Hardware Store in Kennetcook, and McDonalds in London, ON and Windsor, NS. While living in Truro, Bobby retired from the Colchester Community Workshop and his last place of residence was at The Mira. He attended the Immanuel Baptist Church, Truro, NS. Bob grew up loving music, big-time favourite being Elvis Presley. He loved to sing Karaoke and spent hours listening to his many collections of CDs. He loved going to ball games and car races, and watching wrestling. Bob was a huge collector of playing cards, and other paraphernalia of Elvis, The Toronto Blue Jays, and his all-time favourite hockey team the Montreal Canadiens. Bob is survived by his brothers Ray, Truro, NS and Tim (Sherri), Hammonds Plains and sisters Marian "Meme" Covell (Brian), Truro, NS, and Elaine Wilkie of Whites Lake. Uncle Bobby was greatly loved by his many nieces and nephews as well as several great-nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his older brother Eric "Ick" W. Ettinger and an older sister Evelyn Simpson as well as his brothers-in-law Claude Simpson, Richard Dyke, and Brian Wilkie. Thanks to all the hospital staff who were so kind to assist the family during Bob's short stay in the hospital, Pastor Cory Somers and anyone else who showed kindness with food, prayers and condolences either by phone or the wonderful comments on Facebook. A memorial service will be held for Bob at the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home in Kennetcook on Saturday March 1, 2014 at 2pm, with a reception to follow at the Kennetcook Fire hall.
