HOUNSELL, Agnès Deleta- 93 of Walton passed away peacefully at the Windsor Elms on January 3rd,2024. Born in Wesleyville, Newfoundland on August 28th,1930, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Agnes (Wicks) Best. Agnes was a no frills, strong-willed, conscientious individual who worked diligently on providing the basics for her family. She took much pride in always having busy hands. Her enjoyment was spending hours of landscaping, home renovating and garage sales with her husband Wilmore of 55 years. She was an incredibly skilled craftswoman and was well known for her Christmas ornaments, knitting, crocheting, sewing and unique sock monkey creations. During her early years, Agnes worked at several businesses in Wesleyville, Brookfield and Buchans: Sainsbury’s, Baxter Keane’s and selling Fashion Frocks. After their move to Walton, Agnes ran a boarding house for miners. She was well known by many for her over 25 years of waitressing at Gordon’s Grill/ Downeast Motel in Garland’s crossing. Agnes is survived by daughters, Valda (Chris) Bardell, Bramber; Juanita (Clint) Kronenberger, Florida. grandsons, Jacob Bardell (Christie), BC; Will Kronenberger (Danielle), TN; Jesse Bardell (Sonja), BC; brother, Cator Best (Jean); brothers and sisters-in-law, Sol Hounsell, Ellis Hounsell (Blanche), Diane Pinkston Best and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Agnes is pre-deceased by her husband, Wilmore; his parents, Thomas and Mary-Ann Hounsell and Stepmother Irene; siblings Lionel and Emily Wicks, Maxwell and Lena Best, Anne Penney, Beryl and Calvin Howell, Leonard Best; brothers and sister-in laws, Llewelyn and Dorothy Hounsell, Minnie and Wilberforce Janes, Eleanor and Fred Nichols, Eli Hounsell, Melvin Hounsell and Thomas Hounsell. As per Agnes request, there will be no visitation or flowers. A private Family Burial will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Agnes can be made to the Grace United Church or Grace United Church Cemetery Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the JW Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215 Summerville (Phone 902-633-2431).
