Obituary of Alice Crossley

Alice Crossley, 96, formerly of Cambridge Hants County, passed away at Gordon Hall Nursing Home in Moncton NB on Dec 16, 2023, where she had been a resident for a short time. Alice was the only child of Helen and Harry Dill. She was born in New York and came to Canada as an infant with her mother and father and grew up in Cambridge, her father’s home community. After high school, Alice trained to be a nurse in Halifax and went on to work at various hospitals in Nova Scotia, Baltimore and New Jersey where she made many lifelong friends. She was devoted to her Christian faith and was always very active in churches in the various communities where she lived, including in more recent times those in New Glasgow and Windsor NS. No matter where she lived throughout her life, Alice always had a strong love for her childhood home in Cambridge on the shores of the Minas Basin. She returned there each summer to spend time doing some gardening and generally enjoying her home away from home. Alice was devoted to her family and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Besides her parents Alice was predeceased by her husband Harold Crossley and is survived by sons Harry (Susan), Rothesay NB, Brian, Riverview NB, daughter Jennifer, Colpitts Settlement NB, and grandchildren Ian and Anna. There will be a Funeral Service held in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Summerville on Wednesday, December 20,2023 at 2pm, Rev. Garnet Parker officiating. A private Family Burial will be held at High Head Cemetery, Cambridge Hants Co. Donations in memory of Alice can be made to Windsor Baptist Church or High Head Cemetery c/o Paula Lake treasurer, 8140 Hwy 215 Hants Co NS B0N 2R0 or charity of choice.
