Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Macomber, Margaret Faith, RN, age 99, of Noel Shore. With a heavy heart we announce the passing of Margaret Macomber on September 23, 2023. Margaret was born on January 8, 1924, in Noel Shore, Nova Scotia and grew up in Noel Shore, the daughter of Ernest Main and Harriet Main (Densmore). Margaret received her secretarial diploma from Truro Business College and worked with the military in a civilian role during the second world war. Margaret went on to become a registered nurse and valedictorian of her graduating class at the Grace Maternity Hospital in Halifax, where she worked as a nurse for a number of years. She was still bandaging wounds and assisting people with medical needs well into her nineties. Margaret was a faithful member of the Noel United Church. She was also a member of the Women’s Institute and during the nineteen sixties worked hard with this group to put together The History of Noel Shore. This book contains property history, photographs and interesting stories about the community. She was a talented knitter who produced beautiful sweaters, socks, mittens and hats that are treasured by family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and reading. Margaret was known for her kindness and ‘kind’ is probably the most common word used to describe her. Margaret will be sadly missed by her daughter Carol Macomber, grand daughters Melanie MacNiel and Michelle Kelly, great-granddaughters Jayne Ringwald and Kara Kelly. son in law Dougald MacNeil (Wendy) and numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret is predeceased by her husband David Macomber, daughter Wendy Macomber, son in law Douglas Lynch (Carol) and by her siblings Keith Main, Ivan Main and Doris Hatchard. Thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre for the caring attention given to Margaret. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 354, Kennetcook, ph-1-902-362-2440 or please visit our website at allenfh.ca to sign the guest book and send private condolences.
