Withrow, James “Jim” Gordon – 93 of Rawdon, passed away in the early morning of September 4, 2023, after a brief illness in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Center Rawdon with his twin brother John on September 1, 1930, he was the son of the late William and Ruby (Murphy) Withrow. Jim and John spent their lives farming together; with their wives, Eloise and Mary, they grew the multi generation farm and started the farm market business. Later in life, the four traveled to Florida for part of the winter, where they made several new friends, they also journeyed across Canada and to Europe. Jim & Eloise loved to go camping and spent many happy hours camping with the boys when they were younger and continued their camping adventures well into their 80’s. Jim never stopped farming and continued to be the first one to the barn in the morning, right up until the last few months. Jim is survived by the love of his life for 63 years, Eloise, Sons that he was very proud of, Bill (Sarah), Bruce (Cindy), and Brian (Cyndy), grandchildren who he adored, Michael (Leanna), Jason (Kelsey), Scott (Lauren), Amy, Mitchell (Caitlin), Blake, and Hannah, and five great grandchildren who he was thrilled to have visit; he is also survived by sisters-in law, Mary and Eileen (Murray), and their children. Besides his parents, Jim is predeceased by his twin brother John, and infant sister Ruth. A Service will be held on Saturday, September 9th, 2023, at 2pm in the Rawdon Hills United Church, 9 Old Tr 14 Rd, Upper Rawdon NS, Rev. Anne Hoganson Officiating. A private family burial will follow the Service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim can be made to the Center Rawdon United Church Cemetery C/O Adele Fletcher 168 Old Trunk 14, RR1 Mount Uniacke, NS B0N1Z0 or to the VON – 14 Court Street, suite 100, Truro NS B2N 3H7.
