So sad for the family to have had to say goodbye to Garnet. Such a great cousin who made my mother Stella Slater Price, and my frequent visit to Center Burlington such fun and gave us such a warm welcome. He saves my butt on more than one occasion from the “girls” when we were cleaning house. Fun rides on the atv and even a few with Shilo squeezed in. Such a giving, no BS person who lived a good life, took the bad with the good and kept on moving forward and giving that hearty Garnet laugh.
He will be so missed by many, myself included. Evie

My father, Edgar Card, counted Garnet as one of his best friends. I remember being taken to visit Garnet and his family as a child. He remains in my mind as a man of broad shoulders with a broader smile. I'm so very sorry to learn of his passing. Sending love to his sons and family. We hold you in our hearts.

To Richard, Russell and families I send my condolences.
For sixty-five years and a little longer, Garnet and I have been friends. That got its start in the two-room school in Centre Burlington with Beatrice Hoyt as our teacher. We didn't make her days any easier based on the times we stayed after school to write 100 lines of "I shall not laugh in class". After a few of those sessions, I noticed Garnet was finishing in half the time and was permitted to leave while I continued writing. Then he revealed he learned to hold two pencils in his hand and write two lines at once. I tried but couldn't.
We collected and traded comic books, hiked through the woods and rode our bicycles throughout the community for the next few years. Then we moved on to cars. Joined by Fred, Malcolm, and the two Brians (forgive me if I left anyone out) we had some good times during our teens. This included nights spent at Carl's camp on the Mill Road.
Into our 20s, Garnet was working at Fundy Gypsum and wanted me to join him. But I went off to the city for employment. From there on we didn't see one another as often, but occasional drop-ins to say hello easily consumed two or three hours. That could include a drive through the alders on his Bombardier, or being shown his newest piece of equipment like the hydraulic road grader he built. But what was his "favourite toy", a D8 bulldozer, belonged to his employer and he couldn't bring it home.
Then 2023 and mid-March brought a change, when Garnet phoned and told me his health was failing fast. We managed a couple of sit-down chats and phone calls over the following weeks. We did a rerun of some of our adventures from the past and had a few more laughs. Now that has ended.
We met as friends and parted as friends almost seventy years later. But he will stay with me in thought, and I might even partake of a "Jos Louis and Pepsi" in his honour.
Edgar Card

I was sad to hear of Garnet passing. I always looked forward to and enjoyed when Garnet dropped in for a visit at my camp on the mill road. I enjoyed his stories and sense of humor that made me laugh until I'd cry. His knowledge of the history of the mill road was matched by none. I will miss him

My father knew Garnet all his life, and during the 70's worked along side him at the Gypsum Company, he was a hard worker and a "get er done" kind of fella that always had something interesting to talk about (and he could talk for hours). The woods was often a topic during "safety meetings" as they shared a love for the woods.
He was able to build anything, including the power trailer still owned by my family today. Among his many qualities, he was truly a man you could always count on; a trait his son Richard undoubtedly learned from him.
I never had the pleasure of knowing him personally, but all the things I've seen written about his character, personality and work ethic sure remind me of someone else I know.
Thinking of you all and sending much love:

There are no words to describe how lost we already feel without you. You were our rock, our biggest cheerleader, our biggest fan and a best friend to all of us.
I will miss your stories, your laugh and how you use to sneak up on me to scare me when I wasn’t paying attention, I’ll miss our talks, your calls when you heard a song you liked but missed the title and would sing me a few words so I could solve the mystery. I’ll miss everything about you.
I am grateful I meet you all these years ago and now have Russell Salter, Michelle Salter and Richard in my life. We will hold all the memories dear and close to our hearts.
You left a very strong mark on this world and you will never be forgotten. Have a bottle of Diet Pepsi and an ice cream sandwich ready for me for when I see you again so we can have a “safety meeting” and catch up.
We love you so much Papa G. This isn’t goodbye it’s until we meet again.

So deeply saddened at the loss of such a great man. Garnet was a close friend of my father. Growing up I shared many a road trip with garnet. Be it to a tractor pull or farm show, he would keep the laughs flowing with his gritty humour of the days gone buy. As a farm boy and a mechanic I came to see garnet not only as a friend, but as a roll model. Though I will certainly miss his visits, and hearing about his latest adventure. I smile to think of him sipping on a Pepsi.

I have a couple memories of Garnet...the first one was when I first met him. My children were young. My son came in and said "someone is here". I asked who. He says "some stranger in a white truck".
Number 2 memory is when Garnet, Eddy and I went to the city. We were getting some stuff and we needed a knife. Of course Garnet had one. He pulls it out and says it is a really good knife it came from Germany, and you know all good things come from Germany. I looked at him and said oh thank you. You know it. That's where I was born. Lol he just shook his head and laughed.

Uncle Garnet was a good man. He put up with quite abit of our teenage shenanigans. When Richard and my friends used to hang out there fixing our junk cars. … We often used up his garage space unannounced and he was usually not too happy about it, but he would just say “ get it fixed and get out of there”
shake his head and chuckle, as now I realize that he was lilely remembering himself when he was younger at our age. Ha ha ha
He will be missed
Condolences to his family and friends ❤️
