Doris Splane Lake, 90, Falmouth, formerly of Summerville, NS, passed away peacefully on Sept. 26, 2013 in the QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax. Born Jan. 11, 1923 in Cheverie, Hants County, she was the daughter of the late Willard Wood and Elsie (Splane) Fielden. Doris was a loving Mother, wife and amazing Grandmother. In her younger years she loved to dance and always enjoyed a good shore "kitchen party". She was a homemaker most of her life and as anyone who visited her home can attest to, she wasn't happy until you were fed. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren and they adored her. One of her more recent fond memories was her 90th Birthday party. The happiness all her visitors brought her that day lasted for weeks. Doris will be sadly missed by her daughters, Wendy Patterson (Robin), Sackville and Tanya Burgess (Tim), Falmouth. Grandchildren, Joel Spencer, Brett Patterson, Melanie Patterson and Erin Burgess. Great grandchildren, Zachary Eldridge, Courtney Eldridge, Hannah Spencer and Jadea Spencer. Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband, Archie Lake, her grandson, Jason Spencer her siblings, Winnie Wentzell, John Wood and Robert Wood. Visitation will be held Saturday September 28, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and funeral Sunday at 2 p.m. both in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215, Summerville, Rev Garnet Parker officating with a private family burial in the Loyal Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only donations can be made to the Loyal Hill Cemetery or charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J.
