Obituary of Harry Watson

Harry Havelock Watson, 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Walton, Nova Scotia on September 16, 2013. Born on May 2, 1928 in Brooklyn, Hants County, he was a son of the late Frederick and Hilda (Caldwell) Watson, Harry worked as a purchasing agent for Dresser Minerals, Walton, for 36 years before retiring in 1986. He was a Diocesan Lay Reader and an active member of St. Matthew's Anglican Church. A talented artist who enjoyed oil painting and wood carving, he also loved to garden and bird-watch. He was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed tales of the sea. He loved his family and his community.
Harry is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Maxine (Cochrane) Watson; a daughter, Nancy Bond (Charles Bonn), Windsor; two beloved granddaughters, Angela Bond, Burnaby, BC and Erin Bond (Sebastian Guerrier), Harvey, NB; a cherished great-grandson, Nolan Robert Bond-Guerrier; sister, Helen Rafuse, Windsor, NS; half brother, Ernie Watson, Halifax. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by half-brothers, Glen, George, and Herman and half-sister, Kathleen.
Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A celebration of Harry's life will be held at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215, Summerville, on Saturday, September 21 at 2:00 pm, Rev. Val Rhymes officiating. Family flowers only; in lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 1658 Bedford Highway, Suite 2055, Bedford, NS B4A 2X9) or the charity of your choice. Interment will be in St. James Anglican Church Cemetery, Brooklyn, at a later date.
