Obituary of Blair Anthony

Blair Ralph Anthony -79 of New Minas, formerly of Rawdon, Hants County, passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, 16 Aug 2022, after a long and courageous battle with COPD. Born in Mosherville, Hants County, on January 27th, 1943, he was the son of William & Ethel (Nix) Anthony.
Blair served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 009 in Windsor, Nova Scotia. He worked for many construction companies, as a dozer operator and for Dick Weatherhead as a truck driver.
He enjoyed camping, curling, hunting and fishing, as well as spending time with family and friends at “the lot”.
Blair (aka "Papa") will be missed by his loving wife of 27 years; Mary (Lowe), stepson Jeffery Johnston, of Halifax, daughters Colleen Lowe, of Alberta, Tamara “Tammy” Paige (Eric), of Bramber, Peggy Benedict (Ian), of Belmont, Grandchildren Nicole, Jillisa, Roger, Kevin, Crystal, Brandon, Kendalyn, ten Great Grandchildren, brother Ronald (Verna), brother-in-law Benjamin, and sisters-in-law Arlene and Brenda, and several nieces and nephews
Besides his parents, Blair is predeceased by; sisters Phyllis (Harold Lavers), Marjorie (Carl Rhodes), and June, brother Kenny, sister-in-law Juanita, brothers-in-law George, Raymond, Roger, and Rod.
A Graveside committal service will take place on Saturday 20 Aug at 11:00 am at St. Stephen’s Anglican Cemetery, Stanley, with a reception at Royal Canadian Legion 009, Windsor, NS, to follow.
Special thanks to Torra Brown, Cheryl Neil, Ellen Lewis, certain VON nurses who went above and beyond to make Blair comfortable, the Palliative Care Team of Paulette Bennet and Dr. Birch, Dr. Paige Stephens; devoted friends (more like family) Laurie and Ann Brown, and Stephen and Karen Rick. Thanks for all the visits, phone calls, messages and food from the people who cared for him.
