Obituary of Hazel Cochrane

Hazel (Gorman) Cochrane, 90, of Minasville, passed away Aug. 9, 2022, surrounded by family at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Burntcoat on Aug. 3, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Matt and Minnie (White) Gorman. Hazel is survived by her sons Laurie (Joan) Cochrane of Valley and Chris (Kathy) Cochrane of Fall River. Hazel treasured her grandchildren; Logan (Eliza) Cochrane, Keigan (Holly) Cochrane, Kelsey Cochrane, Ryan Cochrane and Angela (Jeremy) Watson. She very much enjoyed time spent with her four great-grandchildren: Harrison, Ava, Ella and Delilah. She spent most of her adult life, starting in her late teens, employed as a teacher. The bulk of her career was spent at Kennetcook Elementary. Her interests varied at different points in her life, from writing poetry in her early years to water painting in later years. She had a lifelong love of community, card parties and church activities. In retirement, she and Harry had fun joining friends for trips abroad. Even in her later years she retained a passion for world events. She loved to discuss the American political scene and kept up with the top stories of the day on social media. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Any afternoon at home, surrounded by loved ones and close friends, was a great day for Hazel. The family would like to especially thank Kelsey for her devotion during a difficult time, Gail Singer for her considerable help and friendship and John Fortune for his long-time support. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday August 15, 2022 in the Moose Brook Cemetery. No flowers, please. Any donations can be made to Moose Brook Cemetery- c/o Roma White.
