Smith, Burpee Payson – 83 of Walton, it is with saddened heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Father on February 8th,2021 at home. Born in Walton on March 13th, 1937 he was the son of the late Lawrence and Alice (Sanford) Smith. Burpee was raised by his grandmother Mary “Mae” until the age of seven when his father remarried. He had a small social circle including mainly his immediate family, his dog Daisy who was his pride and joy and close family friend Chrystal Lake Smith, who he always considered his chosen daughter. After Burpee’s retirement he enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching war or western movies. He could always be found puttering around his home. Burpee is survived by his daughters Marlene Smith (Mark), Walton and Shelley (Rodney) Morris, Walton / Cheverie, his only son Andrew Smith, Walton, grandchildren Amanda (Brett) Wood, Hilden, Cheryl Snow, Halifax, Ryan (Tara) Snow, Walton, Stephanie Snow, Walton, great-grandchildren Serenity, Sierra and Payson Snow, Adam and Olivia Wood, half-sisters Elizabeth Sexton, Hazel Dill, Alice Gould, half-brother Fred Smith. He is predeceased by his wife Evelyn (Green) Smith on January 14th, 2019, stepmother Reta Smith, stepbrother Eldridge Burgess. A service (invitation only) will be held February 12th, 2021 at 11am in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Summerville, Rev. Alex Mosher officiating. Covid-19 regulations will apply. Wearing a mask will be mandatory inside the premises, please confine to your social bubble. Donations in memory of Burpee can be made to The Grace United Church, c/o Lorna Burbidge.
