Obituary of Patricia Westlake
Patricia Marie Westlake Age 75

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Pat Westlake, after a near 20 year courageous and inspiring battle with breast cancer. She left to be with her Lord on October 15, 2019, after a short stay at the Hants Community Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Windsor, N.S.
Born in Halifax on Feb. 5, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Eva Marie (Hall) Westlake of Lower L’Ardoise, Cape Breton.
Pat is survived by her Daughter Denise Blais and Son Dennis Blais, both of Ont., Brothers, Jim, Dartmouth, Clifford, Cornwall, Ont., sister In-law, Sharon Westlake, Dartmouth. Grandchildren, Joseph Blais, Ont. and Jeremy Blais, Alb., her precious Great granddaughter Scarlett Patricia Blais, Ont. and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was considered a very special person who was active in her community, church and surrounding area. She was an integral part of the Hants County Relay For life (The Windsor Wrecks) since its inception in 2009. The Windsor Wrecks received the national 2017 Relay for Life award of excellence for their outstanding contribution to the Canadian Cancer Society. For 18 years she was also a member of the Women ABREASTARIVER dragon boat team, raising awareness and funds for Breast cancer Research. In 2018 she was honored to be chosen to compete in Italy as a member of a maritime team that raced against Dragon Boat paddlers from around the world. Her team was fortunate to have won that race.
The family would like to thank her wonderful friends and neighbors, her pastor, Victorian Order of Nurses, Home Care, Mobile Palliative Care and the staff at the Valley Regional Hospital and the Hants Community Hospital for their compassion and professionalism.
Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday October 21 at 11am in Glad Tiding Worship Center, Chester Rd. Windsor. Pastor Jackie Harvie officiating. Internment will take place with her parents in Lower L’Ardoise at a later date.
