Dateline: Avondale/Windsor Harvie, Ola Alison Grace-84, Dykeland Lodge, formerly of Avondale, passed away on April 28, 2013 in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, N.S. Born August 15, 1928 in Avondale, she was a daughter of the late Prescott A. And Ethel Grace (Stillman) Harvie. Ola was raised by her grandmother Lucinda (Lake) Stillman. After her grandmother's death she lived at the homestead in Avondale with her Uncle Ralph Stillman until he passed away in January, 1991. Doris Sanford of Walton has been her guardian and has helped Ola out for 22 years as it was Ola's Uncle Ralph's wishes that his newphew Arnie and wife assist Ola after his passing. Ola enjoyed animals, especially dogs, large or small, loved to crochet, read, music and watch the news. Going for drives in the summer months with her friend Doris and eating out at different restaurants when she was able. Most of all she loved her visits at Arnie's and Doris home in Walton and drives to her home in Avondale. She is survived by several cousins. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother Munro Dexter Harvie, sister Madeline Olive Harvie both in 1933. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held Wednesday May 1, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215, Summerville, Pastor Debra Mosher officating with a private family burial in the Belmont Cemetery, Belmont. Family flowers only, donations in memory can be made to Friends of Dykeland Lodge, 124 Cottage Street, Windsor, N.S. BON 2TO or charity of choice. We wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Catherine Smith, Rev. Debra Mosher, Avondale U.C.W. for all the lovely fruit baskets and visits, as well as all the visits from her other guests during her stay there and all the staff and care givers at Dykeland, for their wonderful care and concern for Ola during her 8 years with them (she loved it there).
