Obituary of Evelyn Lake

It is with our deepest love and sadness that we share the passing of Evelyn Albatena Lake on June 21, 2019 at Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, NS. Evelyn was born April 6th, 1930 in Noel Road and the family moved shortly afterwards to Tennecape.  She was the daughter of the late Les and Pearl (Harvey) Lingard and was the 2nd child of 4 girls . Evelyn peacefully passed away  after years of battling Alzheimer’s. Evelyn leaves behind her son, David (Wanda Fancy) of East Walton. Granddaughters Stephanie (Jordon) Green of Selma and Kaitlin, Orangeville, Ontario. Great Grandson Seth Green and Sister, Paulette Sanford Evelyn was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Alton Perry Lake on April 16th, 2019, Sisters, Kathleen Davis and Claire Singer. Once again, Evelyn and her sisters will walk the beach.

Evelyn worked for BD Stevens for a short period of time but found keeping the house and the farm was a full time job that she liked best.  Her and Alton loved dancing and could spend hours twirling each other round and round. Evelyn was vertically challenged but she sure made up for that with always wearing the highest heel shoes available, regardless of the occasion.

Evelyn loved company and always made you feel right at home. Rarely were you allowed to leave without a cup of tea and snack of some sort and or a fully prepared meal that would magically appear on the table.

Evelyn spent countless hours playing with her granddaughters. There were many days of dress up and tea parties. She loved to let them bake and would show them how to make pies, cookies, donuts & lots of fudge.  The word “No” was not in her vocabulary when it involved them. She was so very proud of them, loved them dearly and they did her. She was very excited to welcome Seth into their lives and began to teach him many of the things she had taught Stephanie and Kaitlin.

Evelyn gave up driving years ago , against her will, but when  and if you ever met a Grand Marquis it would have been a blur as it went by. Her other passion was collecting Old Country Rose dishes, and had to make sure she had a set for each granddaughter.

The past year was challenging, health wise for Evelyn. She never lost her sense of humor and would make her legs/ feet dance while in bed.

 Cremation has taken place and a family graveside service at Evelyn’s request will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Tennecape perpetual Care or Walton Shore Fire Dept.
