Obituary of Edna White
It is with saddened hearts that, 24 days before her 90th, birthday, we announced the passing of this dear and well-loved woman, Edna Margaret White. Edna was born in Minasville, NS on June 24th, 1929 and she was the daughter of the late Billy and Maggie (Reynolds) Singer.
Edna was well known in the community for her pickles and love for card games and will be missed by all. She had Edna’s Canteen from 1963 to 1979 and also worked at the Beaverbank Nursing Home.
She is survived by her children; Inez (Ron) Vautour, Bill (Carol) White, Valerie (Johnny) Benedict, Sisters; Audrey Kitchen and Doris Sanford, Brothers; Blair (Nora) Singer, Alton (Edna) Singer Daughters-in-Law; Sandra and Linda White, Sisters-in-Law; Florence Singer and Velma Kennedy, 12 Grandchildren, 25 Great- grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Edna was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Ted, her sons; Wayne and Ben and her friend Ernest White. Her Sisters; Emma Cochrane, Liny McLaren, Brothers; Harry and Jim Singer; Brothers-in-Law; Jack Cochrane, Graham McLaren, Hector Kitchen and Arnie Sanford. Sisters-in-Law; Claire Singer and Dolly Reimer.
A special thanks to Dawn Ross, the Von and palliative care staff both in her home and at the Colchester Health Care Centre as well as the Red Cross and the Hospice Society.
Cremation has taken place and a service will be held Wednesday, June 5th, 2019 at 2pm in the J Wilson Allen Funeral Home in Kennetcook, Velma Kennedy CCS officiating. Following a private family burial, a reception will follow in the Little White Hall, Noel Road.
Family flowers only, donations in memory of Edna can be made to the St James Cemetery, Noel Road or St Paul’s United Church, North Noel Road.
