Obituary of Myrna Jean Wilson

Please share a memory of Myrna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

WILSON – Myrna Jean, 89, of Rawdon, died on September 13, 2018 in Truro. After a brief stay at the Colchester-East Hants Health Centre, Myrna left us, surrounded by her loving family as they sang to her songs that she loved. Born in McKay Section on May 18, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Arthur & Mary (Ettinger) Hope. Myrna grew up designing and sewing her own clothes. She worked for Singer as an instructor on their sewing machines, then went on to teach sewing classes in the community as well as sewing clothing for her own children. She loved to paint and took many painting classes. In addition to raising 8 children, she and her loving husband Howard welcomed a multitude of their children’s friends into their home. There was always a place at the table for everyone. She was a mother to many. She and Alice Bond started the (still running) Rawdon 2-Way 4-H Club. Myrna was a member of the Golden Youth Seniors Group and an avid participant in the local Bridge club. In her final home at the Magnolia, she enjoyed playing cards and Scrabble with family, friends and staff. She passed many pleasant hours colouring scenes and animals from adult colouring books. Myrna will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Myrna is survived by her children, Randy, Lewis (Donna), Lorraine, Avery (Ronna), Dennis (Mary Emery), Gayle (Scott Cunningham), Krista (Roland Porter), and Jocelyn Wilson; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Michelle, Jennifer, Lennon, Katharine, May, Stephanie, Andrea, David, Alek, Jillian, Sadie, Ben, and John; great-grandchildren, Bianca, Oakley, Kaleb, Chloe, Levi, and Ezra; her sister-in-law Joyce Hope; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Myrna was predeceased by her husband, Howard; her sisters, Thelma Davis, Elva Baxter, and Norma Spencer; her brothers, Albro, Lewis, Clyde, and Alan Hope in infancy; and her daughter-in-law Sandra. The family wishes to thank both the staff of the Magnolia for taking such good care of Myrna during her years there as well as the staff of E and D Wing at CEHHC for their care and kindness at the end. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request; a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 2pm at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, 6571 Hwy 354, Kennetcook, Rev.
