Obituary of Edward Sterling Tanner
TANNER – Edward Sterling, age 84, of Enfield, formerly of Five Mile River, passed away at Magnolia Continuing Care, Enfield, on July 28, 2017. Born in Halifax on June 12, 1933, he was a son of the late William and Alice (Smith) Tanner. Edward worked for Dominion Metal for roughly 30 years, and loved drag racing and stock car races. He enjoyed playing cards and gardening, and his yard was decorated with many crafts that he and Edith made. Edward is survived by his children, Janice, Ricky, and John; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers Art (Elizabeth), Dick, and Gerald (Sheila); his sister Lorraine (Freddy). Besides his parents, Edward was predeceased by his wife, Ada (Lattie); son Edward; sisters Pearl, Gladys, Maude, Lillian, and Doris; his brothers George, Henry, Carl “Jimmy”, and Gordon; and his long-time companion, Edith Lattie. Thank you to the caregivers at Magnolia Honeysuckle Cottage for their care and kindness. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 2 at 2pm at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, Rev. Gloria McClure-Fraser officiating, with interment at St. John the Baptist Anglican Cemetery, Latties Brook.
