Obituary of Harriette "Hattie" Josalyn Spencer
SPENCER – Harriette “Hattie” Josalyn, age 64, of North Noel Road, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Five Mile River on August 11, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Irene (MacDonald) Dickson. Hattie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and loved spending time with her family and friends making precious memories. She looked forward to ball season, to cheer on her local players, especially her grandsons. When she wasn't with her family, or at the field, she could be found looking for a yardsale deal. In her younger years, she worked at the Kwik-Way in Kennetcook where she and a very special friend, Carol, served up great food and great service and made many friends from near and far. Years later she worked for Vance Hanes and gained many new friends; Edie and Sharon were spoken of often. Hattie is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Clarence; daughter, Krista (Rick); son, Levi (Jana); grandchildren, Cole (Melissa), Khloe, Isaac, and Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Alexa; sisters, Phyllis, Mary, Gloria (Ged), Sheila (Danny), Valerie, Brenda, and Sandra (Harlan); brothers, Nelson (Donna) and Myles (Bev); and sister-in-law Betty, along with several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Karen and Marilyn; brother-in-law Frank, and brothers Victor and Tony. Cremation has taken place; visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 20 from 7-9pm with a memorial service on Wednesday, June 21 at 2pm, both at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook. Rev. Angus R. MacDonald officiating. Private family interment at St. James Presbyterian Cemetery, Noel Road, with a reception at the Green Hall, North Noel Road.
