Obituary of Frances Harvey
Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Harvey, Frances Bernice- age 90, of Halifax, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2017 in Northwood Centre. Born in Brooklyn, Hants Co., she was the daughter of the late Irving and Nellie (Rockwell) Harvey. Frances was never one to complain despite her many medical challenges over the years. She started her bookkeeping career at Maritime Tel & Tel, followed by positions in Happy Valley, Greenland; Goosebay, Labrador; and Toronto, Ontario. She then settled in Halifax and worked at Labatt Brewery until her retirement. Frances enjoyed reading, knitting, baking, puzzle books and her game shows on television. Being able to help others, however, gave her the greatest joy. She was very generous with her time, knitting puppets for the IWK and mittens for the Salvation Army. She was an avid baker and would spend a week baking for a church bake sale. Frances is survived by her sister-in-law, Alma (Ettinger); niece, Carolyn Baker; nephew, Peter (Daff) Harvey; great-nieces Jan Wilson (Rob Clark), Kim (Ed) Harding, and Nicole (Shane) Mills; great-nephew, Brad Harvey; four great-great-nephews and one great-great-niece. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Ralph Harvey; and nephew by marriage, Bob Baker. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A graveside committal service will be held at a later date. Many thanks to the caring staff on 5C, and a special thanks to Monica. Donations in memory of Frances can be made to any charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215, Summerville; 1-902-633-2431.
