Obituary of Merton Morris

MORRIS - Merton Lawson, age 85, of Cheverie, passed away on February 6, 2017 at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Bramber on October 23, 1931, he was a son of the late Lawson and Violet (Macumber) Morris. Merton was a member of the Labourers Union for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching hockey and sports. A die-hard Montreal Canadiens fan, Merton had a special place in his heart for his little dog Scrapper and cat Pebbles. Merton is survived by his son, Rodney (Shelly), of Cheverie; sisters, Marion; Minnie, Victoria, B.C.; Lenora, Dartmouth; and Maude (Avard) Lake, Bramber; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Merton was predeceased by his wife, Pearl; stepson, Moe Brown; and brother, Wilson, in infancy. Cremation has taken place; a graveside committal service will be held in Bramber Cemetery on Sunday, May 28 at 1pm, Rev. Garnet Parker officiating, followed by a reception at the New Horizons Hall, Bramber. Family flowers only; donations in memory of Merton may be made to the Bramber Cemetery Fund c/o Mrs. Dawn Barkhouse, RR1 Walton, NS, B0N 2R0.
