Please share a memory of Laurene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
ANDREWS, Laurene "Renee" Willa, age 83, of Dartmouth. It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Laurene "Renee" Willa Andrews at the Dartmouth General Hospital on October 6, 2016. Born in Woodstock, NB on July 15, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John Delong and Bertha MacDonald (Lewis). Renee was a gifted crafter who spent many years sewing, crocheting, and hooking rugs for family, friends and people in need. More recently she enjoyed challenging herself with complex puzzles and returning to the game of bridge, where she met many new friends at Parklands at the Lakes. Oh, let us not forget the occasional trip to the Casino. Renee is survived by her daughter Leslie, Dartmouth; sons Rick (Thelma), Parkdale; Greg (Shelly), Calgary; and Keith (Jo), East Gore; grandchildren Melissa, Melanie, David, Patrick, Kendrick, Megan, and Olivia; and great-grandchildren Carter, Julia, Andrew, Maddie, Tommy, and Charlie. Renee was predeceased by her husband Ralph and daughter Cindy. Special thanks to the DGH Palliative Care staff and nurses for their compassion and care throughout the past number of weeks. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A graveside memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 2pm at the West Gore Cemetery, Rev. Angus R. MacDonald officiating, with a reception to follow at West Gore Disciple Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Renee's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, DGH Palliative Care Unit or IWK Hospital for Children. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 354, Kennetcook, ph 1-902-362-2440 or please visit our website at www.allenfh.ca to sign the guest book or send private condolences.
