BARTLETT - John "Junior" William. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John "Junior" Bartlett, age 78, of Riverside Corner, on April 1, 2016 at the QEII Hospital, Halifax, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Windsor on June 2, 1937, he was the son of the late John Lewis and Elizabeth (MacDonald) Bartlett. John was employed with Municipal Construction for 47 years, when he had to leave for health reasons. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and feeding his pets in the backyard. John loved all family gatherings, and going camping in early years with his family and friends. In later years, he and Betty enjoyed the Bluegrass and Country music camping weekends. He loved to be in his workshop building some project. John was such a storyteller and a huge tease. He was always running to help out one of his children, siblings, or other family and friends. He was the go-to for all things you needed. John was a dedicated husband (he would have made the 60th anniversary milestone on April 14), father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. John is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Huskins); daughters, Elaine (George) Buchanan, Kathy (Blaine) Singer, Carol (Jack) Westlake, and Julie (Terry) Frail; sons, Vernon (Donna Singer), and Johnny (Susan Anthony-Bartlett); grandchildren, Kristopher, Brandon, Jylian, James, Dawson, Megan, Benjamin, Emily, and John-Anthony; extended family he raised, Joanne Huskins, Trina Boucher, Courtney Boucher; brothers, Angus (Wendy), David (Esther), Laurie (Linda), and Clyde (Kathy); and sister, Marlene (Ken). Besides his parents, John was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Elaine and Shirley Louise. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A public graveside committal service will be held on Sunday, May 1 at 2:30pm in the West Gore Cemetery, West Gore, Rev. Angus R. MacDonald officiating. The family would like to extend their thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the QEII for their care and kindness. Donations in memory of John may be made to West Gore Disciples' Church, 1000 Hwy 202, West Gore, NS, B0N 1P0. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215, Summerville; 1-902-633-2431. Please visit our website at www.allenfh.ca to sign the guest book or send private condolences.
