Obituary of Edith Miller

Miller, Edith Martha, age 80, of Noel, formerly of Upper Kennetcook, passed away on February 23, 2015 at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Upper Kennetcook on January 15, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Bert Hennigar, Mildred (Weir) Garby and stepfather Ruel Garby. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Edith enjoyed card parties and bingo, and was an avid NASCAR fan. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Brian (Connie), Upper Kennetcook; and Glen (Lori), Urbania; her daughters, Tanya (Danny Harvey), Doris (Reg Neil), both of Gormanville; Sherri (Gerald Meldrum), Upper Kennetcook; Peggy (Danny Burgess), Bramber; and Susan, Hilden; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Edith was predeceased by her husband, Reuben; her companion, Raymond; her granddaughter, Tammy Harvey; her brothers, Clyde, Sidney, Henry, and Ralph; her sisters, Catherine, Lucy, Lillian, Evelyn, Ethel, Stella, and Helen; and two infants at birth, Roy and Isabel. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at CEHHC for their care and kindness. Cremation has taken place; visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25 from 7-9pm followed by a memorial service on Thursday, February 26 at 2pm, Rev. Angus R. MacDonald officiating, both at the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook. Following the service there will be a reception at the Noel Legion. Private family interment will take place in St. Peter's Anglican Cemetery, Upper Kennetcook at a later date. Family flowers only; donations in memory of Edith may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Peter's Anglican Cemetery, or a charity of one's choice.
